Multi Room Video

He wanted the best quality video in his home and this required an HDMI infrastructure to be put in place. Each room was wired using HDMI cabling and for longer runs fibre optic was used to avoid signal degradation. I spoke to him about providing wiring to other rooms so that should he wish to expand the system at a later date it would be possible and it was agreed that low cost Cat5 cabling be installed in the eventuality. A Kramer High Definition Video switcher was installed to supply Sky HD 1080i and Blu Ray Full HD 1080p video to each room on demand.

In the Master Bedroom, he wanted his TV to be stored away when not in use, so a Future Automation plasma motor was installed and interfaced with the Crestron processor. According to whether a video source was selected and the cupboard doors were fully opened, the TV automatically adjusted itself to face the master bed.

Multi Room Audio

With the need for high quality audio, a Crestron Multi Room Audio system was installed coupled with Speakercraft in ceiling speakers. Speakercraft offer a full range of speakers and he was able to choose a speaker that was both within his budget and more importantly, pleasing to the ear.

We connected 2 Radio Tuners, a 2 Zone Sound Server, a Sky Box, a Blu Ray player and the output from a PC for streamed audio to the system. Enabling him to listen to any of these sources anywhere in his home.

Crestron touch panels and touch screen remotes were individually selected to create the best experience for each room with all albums and artwork displayed to the user.

Home Cinema System

The client took great interest in the careful component selection process to create his dream theatre experience. A number of speaker manufacturers were discussed and PMC were ultimately decided upon. I suggested a Denon amplifier and Blu Ray player, due to their long term track record of reliability and performance over the years we have been installing coupled with a 50" Pioneer screen to display the blisteringly clear images of HD. Pioneer are the long term market leaders in the production of high end plasma displays and as a result TIS have always used them. TIS worked hand in hand with The Kent Fireplace Company to flush mount the 50" Pioneer above the bespoke gas fireplace. All these components, and many others comprising the system, were brought together using a Crestron 8" colour touch screen remote, providing real time feedback and automation on his every action.

To take the cinema to the next level, whenever a film was paused, stopped or played, the lights were programmed to automatically adjust themselves appropriately and my client could tweak these setting through a custom management screen.

Lighting System

It was decided that a Crestron Lighting system was the best choice in this instance. The house was being completely rewired which gave us the ability to use a completely centralised lighting system. Centralising the system avoided the need to house noisy dimmers in the ceiling and allowed us to store the kit in one convenient cupboard . According to the different circuits specified by the designers, the appropriated lighting control modules were installed in a discrete rack, giving my client the ability to control his lighting how he wanted when he wanted.

Special attention to detail was added offering different lighting levels according to the time of day and a custom built web interface was created so that my client could easily adjust his own lighting scenes without having to call us back. The lighting was completely integrated into his multimedia system which allowed us to avoid duplicate control panels and enabled him to have greater control over his lighting.
